I am looking for experienced data migration specialists who can answer some questions for me for my school research.
Since I am almost the same age as the LSMW data migration tool I need some experienced people to tell me how data migration is done before LSMW or any other tool. I know Excel was used often, but I don't know the dates. So my questions are:
1. When was LSMW founded? - The oldest documentation I could find was an known problems report for LSMW 1.0 in 1999. So it should be close to that date.
2. How is data migration done before LSMW?
3. The first version of Excel was is 1985 am I right? And was it used then already for data migration?
4. SAP R/98 was the first version of SAP which began in 1973. How was data migrated then?
5. Was LSMW the first data migration tool? Or was there something else already?
6. Can you give me an overview of the developments of data migration through the years?
